Accessibility Statement
Our Commitment
Far Horizons OÜ (“the Company”, “we”, “us”) is committed to ensuring that CasaVanguardia is accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We believe that everyone should be able to search for and explore property listings with ease, regardless of their abilities or the assistive technologies they use.
We are working towards conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and continuously improving the accessibility of our platform.
Conformance Target
We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance for casavanguardia.co and all associated services. WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the standard referenced by the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) and the Estonian Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications Act (Veebilehtede ja mobiilirakenduste ligipaasetavuse seadus).
This means we aim to ensure that our Platform:
- Perceivable: Content is presented in ways that users can perceive, including text alternatives for images, captions for media, and sufficient colour contrast.
- Operable: All functionality is available via keyboard, users have enough time to read and use content, and navigation is clear and consistent.
- Understandable: Content is readable, predictable, and helps users avoid and correct mistakes.
- Robust: Content is compatible with current and future user tools, including assistive technologies.
Technologies Used
CasaVanguardia is built with the following technologies, which we rely on for accessibility:
- HTML5 — Semantic markup provides a meaningful document structure for assistive technologies.
- CSS — Used for visual presentation, with responsive design ensuring usability across screen sizes.
- SVG — Used for icons and graphics with appropriate ARIA labels and roles.
- SvelteKit — Our application framework, which renders server-side HTML for improved compatibility with screen readers and other assistive technologies.
- ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) — Used to supplement HTML semantics where needed, particularly for interactive components, dynamic content updates, and custom widgets.
- JavaScript — Used for interactive features, with progressive enhancement so that core content remains accessible when JavaScript is unavailable or fails.
Current Status and Known Limitations
We are continuously working to improve accessibility. The following are known areas where we are aware of limitations and are actively working on improvements:
Map Components
Our interactive property maps rely on third-party mapping libraries. While we provide non-map alternatives for property location information (address text, coordinate data), the map interface itself may present challenges for users who rely on screen readers or keyboard-only navigation. We are evaluating more accessible mapping solutions.
Dynamically Loaded Content
Some property listing pages load additional content (images, descriptions, related listings) dynamically as the user scrolls. We use ARIA live regions to announce these updates, but the experience may vary between screen readers. We are testing and refining this behaviour.
Image Descriptions
Property listing images sourced from third-party data feeds may lack descriptive alt text. We provide basic alt text (e.g. “Property photo 1 of 8”) but acknowledge that detailed descriptions of property features shown in images would be more useful. We are exploring automated image description as a future enhancement.
PDF Documents
Some downloadable documents (e.g. property brochures from agents) may not be fully accessible. We do not control the accessibility of documents uploaded by third-party agents, but we encourage agents to provide accessible document formats in our Agent Terms of Service.
Colour Contrast
While our default theme meets WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios, some user-generated content (agent logos, custom branding) may not meet these standards. We enforce minimum contrast for platform-controlled elements.
How We Test
Current Assessment Method
Our accessibility conformance is currently evaluated through self-assessment, including:
- Manual keyboard navigation testing across all core user journeys.
- Screen reader testing using VoiceOver (macOS/iOS) and NVDA (Windows).
- Automated scanning using axe-core and Lighthouse accessibility audits as part of our development process.
- Colour contrast verification using WCAG-compliant tooling.
- Reduced motion and high contrast mode testing.
Planned Improvements
We plan to commission a formal third-party accessibility audit by a qualified accessibility consultant. We aim to complete this audit and publish the findings within 12 months of the date of this statement.
